Erice on the lon and mountain of western Sicily (751m.) is a
magnificent medieval town, whitch has remained intact until today.
It is a singular synthesis of myth and history, art and culture, landscape
and environment, fantasy and reality.
Its origins are very old, it would seem to have been founded by the
mythical Erice, the son of Venus and Butex, who became king of Elyms, an
ancient mountain people who settled the nearby Segesta.
Erice is considered the main tourist resort of the area. Amoung the
monuments of historical interest are Venus' Castle, Pepoli Caste,
the Tower of the Balio, the beautiful old churches, amoung which the
Madrice (13th C).

Falcone and Borsellino Airport (Palermo) 70 km away or Vincenzo Florio Airport(Trapani - Birgi) 20 km away. From airports you can take the Bus-shuttle services to Trapani Train Station
and after you can take the bus for "Erice Vetta" about 10 minutes).
Available also a Cableway at the bottom of Erice.
By car

This is definitely the most suitable way to visit Erice and the
surrounding areas. Take the A29 Palermo-Trapani highway and exit at last stop "Trapani",
following the arrows that lead to the "Erice" mountain (about 15 minutes).
Also you can follow the arrows that lead to the "Funivia" (Cableway)
with a useful parking and take on foot the cableway to the Erice town (10
minutes)
By Train

When you arrived at the Trapani Station you can reach Erice with useful
Bus-Shuttle or reach the "Funivia" (Cableway) at the bottom of Erice
and take on foot the cableway to the Erice town (10 minutes).
